Blanco is located in the beautiful Texas Hill Country in the center of the state, 45 miles north of San Antonio and 45 miles west of Austin. For airplane connections, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is about 53 miles away and San Antonio International Airport is 42 miles.

Blanco was settled in 1853 by pioneer stockmen, former Texas Rangers, immigrants and their families.

The historic Blanco Town Square has great shopping the antique and gift stores and touring the 1885 Historic County Courthouse, lovingly restored by the Old Blanco County Courthouse Preservation Society. The building now operates a visitor center, gift shop and community center. It is located in Blanco at the intersection of Highway 281 and Highway 165.

Market Days is held the 3rd Saturday of the month April through November on the Courthouse square with a special Christmas market day held in December.

Pedernales Falls State Park
The 4,860 acre park stretches along both banks of the Pedernales River for 6 miles and for an additional 3 miles along the south side of a rugged and picturesque gorge known as the Pedernales Falls.
